Wedding Photographer: Fawsley Hall

I photograph so many weddings in Italy - Tuscan Castles, Roman Villas, hill-top Borgos - so when I photograph weddings in the UK, there's nothing I like more than to photograph weddings at real 'English' venues. Fawsley Hall fits the bill perfectly. A Tudor house and Georgian courtyard with views that over-look a quaint little village church and open fields filled with sheep. Perfect.

With many beautiful rooms and manicured gardens, Fawsley Hall makes a great summer and winter-wedding venue. The history of the place is fascinating and it's central-UK placement makes it a great place to marry should you have guests travelling from different parts of the country.

Fawsley Hall: History

Fawsley Hall's historical literature is detailed and very interesting. The Bridal Suite, known as the 1575 Suite has also been referred to as the 'Queen's Chamber' since Queen Elizabeth I stayed there during her last visit in 1575. A beautiful room in which a Bride may prepare.

Travel & Accommodation

Fawsley Hall has 58 bedrooms. They are all uniquely decorated and whether they have modern furnishings or antique furnishings, all are truly luxurious.

You can have a civil ceremony in the main house or may choose to marry in one of the local country churches. Also, if you plan to have several hundred guests, there is space for a marqee on the lawn.

As I mentioned above, Fawsley hall is a great venue if you have guests travelling from different corners of the UK. It's very central and easily accessible from the M1 motorway.

A Brilliant Idea!

Simon & Nicky, who held their wedding reception at Fawsley Hall in September 2011, made their big day even more English! They filled the beautiful Georgian courtyard with wonderful entertainment during the drinks reception for all of their guests to enjoy. This included an ice-cream tricycle, pictured here on the left. Isn't it great? Of course, I had to sample the ice-cream!

Special Features

I couldn't write this review without mentioning Fawsley Hall's Great Hall. You enter the buiding through the main entrance, bypass the reception on your left, take the first left and bam!, you find yourself in this wonderful room. You'll gaze around in complete wonder trying your best to digest a little of what your eyes are trying to focus on.
Commissioned in 1537, it's roof, fireplace and large bay window are just some of the special features of this gorgeous room.

Simply put, one of the most incredibly beautiful rooms I have ever been in.

The great thing is that this wonderful room is by no means off-limits. Simon & Nicola's guests were treated to a set of emotional speeches in the Great Hall before they were seated for dinner. Then, believe it or not, the Great Hall also played host to the evening party and band! Brilliant.

The Gardens and Views

What more can I say?! The quinessential 'English' view!

I spent a good 15 minutes in a lovely garden to one side of the main house and got a series of images that Si & Nicky absolutely love. The laburnum tunnel is also beautiful, especially when in flower in late-spring.

I love this place! A super wedding venue that is certainly worth consideration for so many reasons. Go for it!
